Rule of Law and Anti- Corruption Programme has operationalized the legal services Department of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission to address discriminatory practices that affect the disability community in Anambra State.

Its State Project Co-ordinator, Mrs Josephine Onah disclosed this at a one-day workshop on integrating inclusivity for women, children and persons with disability in criminal justice administration and reforms in Anambra State, organized by Disability Rights Commission with Support from ROLAC under its phase two programme funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.


Addressing the participants, Mrs Onah explained that the Legal Services Department has twelve legal practitioners who will defend the rights of persons with disability under the disability Rights Law enacted in 2018 and urged the disability community to take advantage of the Department to address discriminatory practices against them.

The State Chairman of Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Mr Chuks Ezewuzie disclosed that the Commission in conjunction with law enforcement agencies will after the programme start the implementation of Anambra State Disability Rights Law which grants access to justice for persons with disability.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Chinwe Achugbu stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to improving the welfare of vulnerable groups, while one of the participants in the programme, Miss Chidimma Ajemba described the workshop as very impactful.
