Anambra state Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo says teachers are the custodians of the future.
Governor Soludo stated this at the 2024 World Teachers’ Day Celebration, held at Teachers’ House, Awka.
The Governor who emphasized that if one wants to predict the future of any nation, one should examine the quality of teachers and the quality of teaching, adding that the day is not just to celebrate teachers, but to remind them of their purpose as teachers, describing teaching as a sacred duty entrusted by the society.
He called on teachers to persist, persevere, keep adding value, and continue giving their pupils and students lasting impressions as their job is a vocation.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Chika Chukwudozie appreciated the Governor for his landmark achievements in all sectors, pledging their support to his administration.
This year’s event themed; Valuing teachers voices: towards a new social contract for education had in attendance, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Chairmen of Anambra State Universal Education Board and Post Primary School Service Commission, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi and Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu respectively.
