Stakeholders in the building industry have called for all hands to be on deck in ensuring a liveable and sustainable environment as the Nigeria Institute of Architects, NIA, Anambra State Chapter holds its 2024 annual conference.

The State Chairman of the Institute, Dr. Michael Ikenna-Onuorah in an address said that the theme of the event which was “Towards a liveable and sustainable urban city: roles of professionals in planning and construction” was carefully chosen in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration’s initiative of entrenching a liveable and prosperous urban city that takes care of today, and put into consideration the environmental effects of tomorrow, calling for sensitization of the public to know the difference between architects.
Governor Soludo represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development at the event, commended the Institute for the conference, saying that his administration is ready to partner with them to develop a prosperous and liveable homeland.


Earlier, the keynote speaker, Architect Asomba Andrew-Egbuonu noted that the state under the current administration has made some progress towards providing a liveable and sustainable urbanization and challenged Anambra architects to always work in line with international best practices.


The Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Mmaduekwe and Architect Okey Ezeobi also delivered lectures on how best to move the building industry forward, highlighting the various strategic roles of architects in the building profession.
