Awka Development Union Nigeria, ADUN, has held a summit tagged “Unity in Difference, Strength in Unity”, geared towards enthroning sustainable peace and stability in the state capital.

In her remarks, the member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Professor Lilian Orogbu while saying that the government will continue to support genuine efforts that will promote unity, understanding and progress charged them to prioritize the interest of the community above selfish gains.


The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabuwanne recalled many efforts made by the state government to ensure that sanity and peace are restored in all communities of the state.

Earlier, the Co-ordinator of the summit and President of ADUN Abuja Branch, Mr. Azuka Obikwelu said that the summit is necessitated by the urgent need to unite and restore the nightlife and friendly atmosphere of Awka community while the Chairman, True Awka People Political Action Committee, Mr. Ifeanyi Uyanne and the Vice President, Awka Connect Worldwide Association, Mr. Chike Nweze said that the summit is a step in the right direction and asked all to reactivate their commitment towards bringing back their town to its glorious days.


Discussants at the summit panel sued for immediate town union election to put to rest the increasing insecurity in the town and to enhance development.
