It was a moment of celebration, praise and thanksgiving to God as the Catholic community in Awba Ofemili, Awka North Local Government Area joyfully welcomed another indigenous ordained Catholic priest, Reverend Father Joseph Iloegbunam after thirty-one years since such an event was witnessed in the town.
In a sermon, the Director, FIDES School of Theology, Awka Catholic Diocese, Reverend Father Celestine Muonwe, cautioned Christians against insatiable quest for wealth and affluence, saying that such is against the will of God and can hinder one from entering into the kingdom of God.
In their separate remarks, the Parish Priest of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Awba Ofemili, Reverend Father Joseph Nwilo, the Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe Ernest Maduagwuna, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Edmond Okafor, the Chairman, Ordination Planning Committee, Chief George Agunwa, a former President-General of Awba Ofemili, Chief Emenike Nwakaeze, among others expressed happiness that after thirty-one years, the community has produced another priest, praying for God’s power and grace to be upon Reverend Father Iloegbunam as he embarks on the priesthood journey.
The celebrant, Reverend Father Iloegbunam thanked God for giving him the opportunity to serve Him and humanity, promising to maintain the tenets of priesthood.
