The Federal Road Safety Commission Zonal Commander in charge of Anambra, Delta and Edo States, Mrs. Stella Orakwue, has called for collaboration with traditional rulers and presidents-general to promote public awareness on obeying traffic rules.
Speaking during an advocacy visit to Awka Community’s traditional ruler, Obi Gibson Nwosu, Mrs. Orakwue described road safety as a collective responsibility, debunking speculation about evil spirits causing accidents during ember months, attributing most highway crashes to human error.
Mrs. Orakwue, from Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, accompanied by Anambra Sector Commander Mr. Joyce Alexander, commended Obi Nwosu’s support for the commission and called for its sustainability.
Responding Obi Nwosu commended the commission’s efforts and suggested issuing driver’s licenses only to properly trained drivers who can drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
Awka Community’s traditional Prime Minister, Chief Benjamin Okoye, and an Ozo title holder, Chief Micheal Onwuaso, pledged the collaboration of Awka Community for enhanced highway safety across Anambra State.
