Plans are underway for a world class training of Anambra Youths on Oil and Gas skills.

The Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya, unveiled this after hosting a delegation from a technology institute at Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, who called on him in his office at the Jerome Udoji state secretariat Awka, seeking for partnership.

According to Commissioner Ifeanya, in line with Governor Chukwuna Soludo’s ongoing 1Youth, 2Skills initiative, some of the Ministry’s staff and Anambra Youths in general would be trained as skilled technicians and Oil and Gas workers in different areas of interests to achieve the ministry’s mandate of job creation.

He assured that on graduation, participants would have acquired technical knowledge on Oil and Gas for gainful employment within and outside Nigeria.

For the leader of the team, Engineer Tom Unyime, they target to facilitate technology transfer and human capital development in line with the policies of Nigerian Content Development and monitoring Board, NCDMB.

Mr. Unyime noted that following the joining of Anambra State in the league of Oil producing states in Nigeria, the need to train it’s youths on Oil and Gas skills becomes paramount to keep them out of the street and nip in the bud, youth restiveness which according to him, is prevalent in Oil producing states.

The visit climaxed with presentation of the institute’s flyers and booklet to Commissioner Ifeanya and their slides presentation.
