Sir Pius Chukwunwike Anigbogu, (NNAWULUARU, ICHIE AMOCHA OF IFITEDUNU, ) was born in Obinagu, Obieze Village Ifitedunu into family of late Ichie Akpu Ichoku Anigbogu and Late Nwiruaku Rita Akpu Anigbogu of Eziocha kindred, Obieze Village, Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area. He attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic Primary School, Ifitedunu.

 

He was admitted into St. Mary’s High School, Ifitedunu in 1963 and when the 1967-1970 Nigeria/Biafra war broke out he joined the Biafra army. After the war in 1970, he went back to St. Mary’s High School Ifitedunu and took the West African School Certificate Examinations in 1971. In 1972 he was given appointment as a Clerical Officer at the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban Development, Enugu where he assumed duty in April, 1972.

 

His quest for higher education took him to Anambra State College of Education, Awka in 1978 where he obtained National Certificate of Education, NCE in 1981.

He carried out his National Youth Service at Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State and passed out in 1982 and later got admission to study Government and Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka between 1986-1989.

He was later transferred to Awka zone of the State Education Commission and retired in 2007 as Principal, Special Grade Two, after thirty five years of meritorious service. Sir Pius was married to Lady Florence Anigbogu and the marriage was blessed with five surviving children.

He was a practicing Catholic Christian and served in different capacities in the church including Chairman, Laity Council St. John’s Parish, Enugwu-Agidi (2000-2011), built a three room Laity office within the church premises, Secretary, Parish

 

 

Pastoral Council, St. Mary’s Parish, Ifitedunu, initiated into the Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba, in 2003, Chairman JDPC, St. John’s Parish, Enugwu-Agidi (2004-2010), Member, five man Caretaker Committee, Awka Diocesan Laity Council in 2010 where he served as the Secretary.

He was also Chairman, Abagana Deanery Laity Council 2012, Vice Chairman, Parish Pastoral Council, St. Mary’s Parish Ifitedunu (2006-2010), JDPC Election Observer in 2007 elections. Sir Pius was also Chairman, Awka Diocesan Laity Council Annual Seminar, (2010).

Chairman, Enugwu-Ukwu Deanery Laity Council (2012-2014), Chairman, Harvest and Bazaar, St. Mary’s Parish Ifitedunu, 2015, a Jerusalem Pilgrim 2014, second Vice Chairman, later Vice Chairman, Parish Pastoral Council, St. John’s Parish, Enugwu-Agidi and Patron, Ifitedunu Deanery Laity Council.

 

He also held many positions in the community including Secretary, Eziocha family meeting .member of Ifitedunu traditional Ozo title holders with the Ozo title name of ‘Nnawuluaru’, Assistant Secretary, Ifitedunu Progressive Union, (1994), Chairman, Eziocha and Uruogu families, selected by Eziocha family as Ichie and installed by Igwe Dr Emeka Ilouno, in 2010 at his palace. He was also appointed Patron, Obieze Community Congress and Chairman Community Project Maintenance Committee.

Sir Pius equally held various political appointments including Member, Dunukofia LGA Transition Committee 2011 to 2012 and elected Deputy Chairman, Dunukofia Council (2014-2017). He was interested in reading and writing and authored some books.

Sir Pius believed in good family upbringing , care, unity, good character, integrity, truth, justice, charity, accountability , honesty and the fear of God. May his soul rest in peace.
