The President, National Union of Market Traders Employers of Nigeria, Comrade James Chukwuma has inaugurated Anambra State and Local Government Executives of the union in Awka.

Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that Comrade Chukwuma while inaugurating the executives charged them to work in accordance with the constitution of the union, protect the rights of market traders and collaborate with the Standards Organization of Nigeria, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to rid markets in the state of fake drugs and sub-standard products.


Speaking after taking the oath of allegiance, the State chairman of the Union Comrade Nnamsom Nwafor-Orizu disclosed that the union which is the first of its kind in the state was established to alleviate the sufferings of traders and protect their interest, adding that they will partner the state government in developing the state by building markets in rural areas.


The Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Anambra State Chapter, Mrs. Bernadine Ogbuefi noted that the dedication of the union to fostering a better supportive environment for traders and enhancing their welfare and productivity will contribute to the advancement of Anambra and the country at large.
