Anambra State Government has flagged-off integrated measles immunization campaign in Awka.

The event held at Okpuno Primary Healthcare Centre, Awka South Local Government Area attracted parents, caregivers and development partners.


Flagging off the exercise which will now hold from sixth to eight November, 2024, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike commended all the development partners working in the state, especially the World Health Organization for their numerous supports so far and explained that the State government places high premium to the healthcare needs of the citizenry and called on parents and caregivers to avail their children the opportunity to get immunized.


The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem noted that the immunization will take place in all the primary healthcare centres in the state, adding that it is safe and free.

Speaking on behalf of development partners, the Zonal Coordinator of the World Health Organization, Dr. Chimuanya Igboekwu extolled the state government for creating an enabling environment that makes their work seamless, assuring of the continuous partnership with the State.


The Anambra State Health Educator, Mrs. Uju Onwuegbusi, the State Immunization Officer, Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu among others attended the event.
