Anambra State is to hold second edition of its annual new yam festival on Saturday, November ninth, 2024 at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
The Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji disclosed during on an ABS audience participatory programme, Issues in Awka, today.
Speaking on the programme, Comrade Onyenji who described tourism as a big business that generates revenue for everybody, including the government said that the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration is intentionally embarking on the promotion of the tourism sector in the state.
The Commissioner explained that this year’s new yam festival will witness various cultural celebrations, parade by local government areas, wresting, one million naira cash prize for Di Ji 2024 , among other attractions.
Comrade Onyenji pointed out that the Soludo administration is doing fantastically well in the tourism sector through road constructions, renovation of tourist sites, like Ogbunike cave, Owerri-ezukala water falls, Igboukwu Museum, building of new ones like Solution Fun City Awka, among numerous others.
He called on Ndi Anambra and other residents of the State to come out en masse to witness the 2024 new yam festival at Ekwueme square as it is going to be entertaining.
