The Anambra State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring prudent and impactful utilization of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, allocations in the state’s public tertiary institutions.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who gave the assurance through his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, when members of Federal House Committee on TETFUND and other Services paid him a visit at the Government House, Awka, noted that the TETFUND allocation is going a long way in assisting to actualize the government’s vision of enhancing educational infrastructure, improving teaching and learning conditions, and supporting research and staff development in tertiary institutions in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of Federal House Committee on TETFUND and other Services, Honourable Miriam Onuoha, while saying that they were alerted that from the year 2020 to 2023 there were some outstanding TETFUND allocation to tertiary institutions in South East zone, which maybe occasioned by some of the stringent conditions attached to accessing funds and some other factors beyond the control of the tertiary institutions, explained that the committee has chosen to intervene on the issue to ensure seamless disbursement of the allocations.
In separate interviews, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, and the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Kate Omenugha, expressed delight over the level of commitment being shown by members of the committee in ensuring that tertiary institutions in South East, especially Anambra, benefit from the TETFUND allocations seamlessly.
