A bill seeking to authorize the sum of six hundred and six billion, nine hundred and ninety-one million, eight hundred and forty-nine thousand, one hundred- and eighteen-naira, sixteen kobo for the services of the Anambra State Government for the 2025 fiscal year, has scaled second reading.

The bill went through extensive debate, following a motion moved by the Majority Leader and member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, at the Anambra State House of Assembly Sir Ikenna Ofodeme.


Speaking on the importance of the bill, Sir Ikenna, emphasized that the bill’s swift passage will enable the timely commencement of development projects and government programmes from January, 2025.

In their contributions, the member representing Aguata Constituency One, Honourable Anayo Okpaleke, the member representing Orumba South Constituency, Engineer Emma Nwafor and Barrister Obi Nweke representing Anambra East Constituency, commended the governor’s draft estimate.

The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, referred the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further scrutiny.
