The Alumni Students of Basden Special School, Isulo has called for an urgent attention on the schools dilapidated state.
In a symposium organized by Alumni of the school, Mrs. Lillian Evughire a legal practitioner and also President, Basden Memorial Special Education Centre Alumni Association, revealed that the school was established in 1996 to cater for the needs of the blind, deaf and dumb regretting that broken down infrastructure over the years has left the school in a dilapidated state.
In a lecture, the Dean Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Professor Vivian Nwogbo represented by Dr. Victor Agogbua called for synergy between the government, Non-Governmental Organizations and individuals for adequate funding for those with special needs.
Chairman, Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chucks Ezekwuzie represented by Mr. Umeh Ogbonna said that education is a universal right for every child.
