A bill seeking to establish the Anambra state indigenous medicine and traditional practices agency and for other related purposes has scaled second reading at the Anambra State House of Assembly.

According to the sponsor of the bill who is the Majority Leader of the House and member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, the bill which addresses the growing recognition of indigenous medicine as a critical component of healthcare, is a proactive step towards promoting traditional practices while ensuring they adhere to safety and ethical standards.

The member representing Anambra East Constituency, Barrister Obi Nweke, his Ihiala Constituency Two Counterpart, Honourable Golden Iloh and the member representing Aguata Constituency Two, Chief Tony Muobike, emphasized that the bill will help the state in no small measure, especially in the area security.

The Speaker, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze read the bill for the second time which received support from the lawmakers.
