The Anambra State Government, through the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, has held a one-day State Level Stakeholders Engagement Meeting for Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine Intensification in Awka.
Addressing the gathering made up of traditional rulers, Presidents general, development partners and other relevant stakeholders, the Anambra State Health Educator, Mrs. Uju Onwuegbuzina, explained that the essence of the exercise was to share lessons learnt from the HPV introduction, review progress, challenges and practices for HPV in Anambra, engage expanded partners to garner insights and recommendations on improving HPV coverage for children from nine to fifteen years.
For the Director of Disease Control and Immunization in the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Nnamdi Uliagbafusi, stakeholders should ensure that the HPV vaccine is being received by the target audience, and called on religious and traditional leaders to help in ensuring the success of the HPV vaccine intensification.
A Consultant from the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Mr. Akpan Etop, revealed that the vaccine intensification is going to take place in Orumba North, Aguata and Idemili North Local Government Areas from third to seventh December 2024 because of their low performance in the initial exercise that was done before in the state.
