In a somewhat celebratory homecoming, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo visited his alma mater, Uga Boys Secondary School in Aguata Local Government Area, reconnecting with students, and alumni as part of a “Future Forward” initiative aimed at boosting educational funding and community engagement.

The sunny day saw a large gathering of staff and students at the school’s arena, where various songs pervaded the air.

Dressed in his usual “Akwete” cloth, with a touch of white and red, the Governor delivered a passionate speech to an audience of students, staff, and community members who filled the place.

“I stand before you not just as your Governor, but as a proud graduate of this school,” Soludo said, his voice ringing with nostalgia.

“The lessons I learned here shaped not only my career but my commitment to public service and education.”

The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the desire to have s master plan to re-invent the school, providing them with modern facilities.

In his personal capacity, the Governor pledged to pay WAEC fees for junior and senior students in the next five years, drawing cheers and applause from the crowd.

“I believe this scholarship will empower the next generation to fulfil their dreams and contribute positively to the state.”

Earlier on arrival, Governor Soludo embarked on a tour of the school premises.

Students, teachers, among others eagerly approached him, sharing their aspirations and discussing issues important to them.

Governor Soludo took the time to listen attentively, making personal connections that resonated deeply with the attendees.

The visit marks another step in Governor Soludo’s effort to strengthen ties between the state government and educational institutions, advocating for policies that prioritize student growth and community development.

As he left the school, the Governor expressed hope for the future, reiterating his belief that investing in education is the best path to a livable and prosperous society.

Governor Soludo was the pioneer senior prefect of Uga Boys, 49 years ago.

In attendance were Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barr. Joachin Anaeto, Commissioner for Education , Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Mayor, Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Oforbuike, member representing Aguata constituency one at the state house of Assembly, Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke and his Aguata constituency two counterpart, Hon. Tony Muobike, Chairman Post Primary School Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, Traditional Ruler of Uga, among others.
