On Sunday the first day of December 2024, the Cathedral church of Saint Faith Awka, will host many dignitaries from different social strata in its 2024 General Harvest thanksgiving tagged Harvest of Divine Glory .
Already the Archdeacon of the cathedral Venerable Samuel Okonkwo together with members of the Harvest Planning Committee led by Mr Chigozie Nnebeife have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the success of this year’s Harvest thanksgiving.
The 2024 harvest of the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith Awka promises to be fruitful because notable individuals will be in attendance including Governor Chukwuma Soludo who will be attending as a Special Guest of Honour with his Deputy Sir Onyekachukwu Ibezim as the Guest of Honour while the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim and the Wife are the Chief Host of event, under the chairmanship of Sir and Lady Emmanuel Nwogbo Chief Executive officer and Managing Director Alfa Centauri West Africa.
Professor Lilian Orogbu member representing Awka North and South at the National Assembly will be the Lady of the Day, while Chief Ego Akabogu is the Mother of the day. High Chief Ben Ndi Obi and Chief Michael Nwofor are distinguished patrons while Chief Chukwuemeka Okoye is the father of the day among numerous distinguished guests.
Harvest thanksgiving is a period people especially Christians express appreciation to God for His mercies and blessings for a bountiful harvest in both their farming, businesses and other good things they engage in.
The 2024 harvest has the theme ,” Harvest of Divine Glory” coincided with the first Sunday in advent during which Christians prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.
It will be recalled that the year 2023, left many people and many countries in agony, sorrow, and pain because of the negative impact of political and economic instabilities.
The unabated Ukraine and Russia war and the Israeli Palestinian war, have terribly changed the political and economic narrative of the World with it negative impact on Africa .
The church as part of the society was affected by these conflicts. The Love of many waxed cold and some believers gave up in the midst of these anxieties.
However, the situation in some ways provided the gospel the opportunity to thrive stronger as many depended on the Grace and intervention of the Lord to survive.
During the 2023 ‘Harvest of never give up, God indeed manifested Himself to the people as many unexplained battles came in diverse forms and ways but God raised men and women and made a name for Himself.
The 2024 Harvest has series of privileges and opportunities for all true believers, as a New chapter has opened both for individuals, church and Nations as it is never late for the Lord to restore the years the locust has eaten.
