As part of activities to commemorate 2024 World AIDS Day, Anambra State Government through the State AIDS Control Agency, has held a sensitization road walk in Awka metropolis to create awareness over the disease.

Speaking to the ABS, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that the Governor Soludo’s led administration is determined to eradicate the prevalence of the disease in the state through efficient and effective awareness creation, provision of HIV free testing centers among others, saying that government wants to end mother to child transmission in the state.


The Executive Director, Anambra State AIDS Control Agency, Mr. JohnBosco Ementa explained that the event was designed to remember those who have died as a result of the disease as well as those living with it.


Earlier when the Commissioner for Health and the sensitization team paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Chris Molokwu, where he promised that ABS will continue to partner them through efficient sensitization and awareness creation about the disease, using multiple channels of the premier media house.
