Federal Government has commenced a vaccination exercise of young girls between the ages of nine and fourteen in secondary schools across the North Central Geo-political zone against the Human Papilloma Virus, which is responsible for cervical cancer in women.

Speaking at the vaccination inauguration exercise in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the Director General of the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, Professor Usman Malami Aliyu, said the aim of the exercise is to completely eradicate cervical cancer in the North Central zone and the country at large.
