Last week, the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Office in Awka, distributed  one hundred cartons of Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap to Local Government Nutrition Focal Persons from the twenty-one Local Government Areas   of Anambra State to restock their  Pap Banks in all the Primary Health Centres across the one hundred and seventy-nine Communities of the state..

Presently, over five thousand and two hundred packs of Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap have been distributed to different public health facilities in Anambra state, which is the  maximum distribution coverage since the  launch of  the intervention  four months ago.

The Governor’s wife and founder of the non-governmental organization, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Mrs Soludo expressed satisfaction with  what have been achieved so far  with the purely organic supplement.

Each carton of Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap contains thirty packs of well-blended nutritious food formulas to tackle malnutrition in children.

According to Mrs Soludo, they  embarked on a determined campaign to end child malnutrition in Anambra State and  the  passionate intervention drive their  focus and consistency.

She reassured that the  Healthy Living Pap has come to stay to ensure that  no child  dies in Anambra State as a result of malnutrition and urged parents and guardians to visit the nearest Primary Health Centre to them if they  suspect any symptoms of malnutrition in their  child, restating that Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap is hundred percent  free. .

According to United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, Nigeria has the second highest burden of stunted children in the world, with a national prevalence rate of thirty-two percent of children under five, while  estimated two  million children in Nigeria suffer from severe acute malnutrition and only two out of every ten  children affected receives  treatment.

Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap provides children with all the necessary nutrients to boost their general immune system.

It is made of three key ingredients, namely: groundnut, corn, and soya bean, and is rich in vitamins B1, B2, B3 and Iron. According to the Governor’s wife, the supplement aims to enrich  children with special nutritional needs that will among other things enable the state to move from the present second position  as the state with the lowest number of Under-five  mortality to the first position, and maintain the spot for as long as it takes.  The meal will also close the gap in  protein deficiency among children in the state  caused by lack of accessibility, availability and affordability of food items, including protein sources.

As  the Anambra State government continues to establish various strategies to

eliminate  malnutrition among children in the state, the Governor’s wife Non- Governmental Organization Healthy Living with Nonye  Soludo has continued to evolve  interventions  that support  those strategies to deliver effective results, especially with the negative impact of food insecurity as well as social and economic challenges across the country.   The intervention offers every child in Anambra State the opportunity to grow healthy and overcome the threats of malnutrition.
