In a remarkable achievement, Anambra State has clinched two prestigious awards at the National Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge, as the state was honored as the best in the Southeast, and overall best state in the country.

For being the best in the Southeast, Anambra State received a prize of five hundred thousand dollars, and seven hundred thousand dollars for its overall excellence in the challenge.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, flanked by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem, MD/CEO, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, received the awards on behalf of the state government.

The event, supported by notable organizations, including the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF, was aimed at bolstering the commitment of Governor towards human capital development and primary health care, while also mobilizing state resources, promoting accountability and fostering innovation for gender-specific health outcomes.
