The Economic Development Summit Team of Ogbaru Local Government Area; through her Agriculture Development Think Tank Committee and partners, “She Grows Her Food Initiative”, have flagged off dry season farming in the area with the training of over one thousand farmers and disbursement of free vegetable seedlings.
The training which took place at a demonstration farm in Atani, Ogbaru Council Area, drew participants from different communities in the council area.
The Anambra State Coordinator of “She Grows Her Food Initiative“, Mr. Linus Uhuo, said they had earlier trained ninety youths at Songhai Farms who now serve as master trainers training the over one thousand farmers in Ogbaru.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, and Chairman of Ogbaru Agricultural Development Think Tank Committee, Mrs Ifenyinwa Uzoka, explained that the state ministry of agriculture is boosting dry season farming, especially in flood-prone areas, and commended “She Grows Her Food Initiative” and Ogbaru Local Government Area for their support.
One of the master trainers, Mrs Blessing Ogene, and a farmer, Mrs. Regina Oduenyi, promised to make judicious use of the training and seedlings given to them to better their lives.
