The contractor handling the renovation of the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka has been urged to accelerate pace of work to meet the specified schedule.

The Commissioner for Housing, Honourable Pauly Onyeka, made the call shortly after inspecting progress of work on the project.
Housing Correspondent Ngozi Obileri reports that work on the executive part of pavilion has been completed while the new pavilion is nearing roofing level.


According to Commissioner Onyeka, roofing of the third and new pavilion was supposed to have been completed even as he expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on the square which he said has four phases of work.


When interviewed, the Project manager, Pazim Engineering Limited, handling the project said the work delayed due to scarcity of some materials, but said they would speed up the work now that they have materials readily available so as to meet up with the schedule.
