The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu has laid the foundation stone for the construction of world centre for Igbo repository at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka to save Igbo language and culture from going into extinction.
Engineer Emetu laid the foundation during the maiden edition of the Obi Nnaemeka Achebe Annual Public Lecture Series on Igbo Culture, Traditions and Values titled “Onitsha Traditional Society -Origin, spread, and culture.
Engineer Emetu who represented Abia State Governor on the occasion, said that the centre will serve as a centre for repository of information on everything about Ndigbo.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Guest Speaker and Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Obi Achebe highlighted four hypotheses on Igbo history, every facet of Onitsha and their lifestyle.
