Traders at Ogbo-Osisi Market, Bridge Head, Onitsha, have made an urgent appeal to the government to address the recurring fire outbreaks that have plagued the market.

The call for intervention follows a devastating fire incident that destroyed over 100 shops and goods worth millions of naira in the zinc dealers and furniture section of the market.

In an interview with ABS, the Line Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Edochie, alongside affected traders, including Mr. Nwabueze Nwonye and Mrs. Rita Uzondu expressed their grief and frustration, pointing out that this is the second fire outbreak in their section this year, leaving shop owners devastated and struggling to recover.

They highlighted the need for immediate action to prevent future occurrences and called on the state government and relevant agencies to provide support and implement measures to enhance safety in the market.
