It was a colourful display of Nri cultural heritage as a USA-based Dr. Uju Okechukwu joined the Otu “Odu Iyom Nri” in Anaocha Council Area.

President of Otu Odu Iyom title holders in Nri, Chief Mrs Joy Egolum, explained that the Otu Odu Iyom title is the highest that can be attained by an Nri woman, adding that responsibilities of members include becoming an Ambassador of Nri town and culture, being a role model to younger women and a peace maker at all times.

After her decoration as a full member of Otu Odu Iyom Nri; with the title name ‘Ugochinyelum’ Chief Mrs. Okechukwu said she has prepared herself for the title and will be a great Ambassador of Igbo culture, urging those in diaspora to always help promote and project the culture of Igbo people.

In his remark, the husband of the celebrant, Sir Frank Okechukwu-Chika, expressed happiness and said that taking the title has always been the wife’s desire, and appreciated her for always being supportive.

Members of the Otu Odu Iyom title holders in Nri took turn to display their dancing skill during the ceremony.
