The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has appealed to the Anambra State Government to provide all that is needed for an optimum security of lives and property in the state.

In a communique issued at the end of State Executive Council meeting held in Onitsha, CAN also decried the kidnap of the Most Reverend Professor Godwin Okpara, and pleaded with security agencies in the state to increase surveillance and beef up security measures as the festive period gets to the climax.

The communique, signed by the Chairman, Anambra State CAN, Venerable Joseph Nweke, and the Secretary, Reverend Moses Echefu, charged all and sundry to assist security agencies, as efforts to trace the Archbishop continue, even as they prayed for his safe release and all others who are clamped in the claws and den of the Kidnappers.

CAN noted with grief the reality of various forms of gender-based violence across the state, and reaffirmed its commitment towards addressing the menace, saying that violence has never been the way of life of Ndi Igbo.
