A cross section of travelers in Awka have decried continuous rise in fares this yuletide, calling on relevant authorities to do something about it in order to enable people travel to see their loved ones.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that these were the reactions of some travelers who spoke to the ABS at some parks in Awka.
One of the respondents, Miss Empress Emmaculata, who expressed excitement traveling from Anambra to her home town, Afikpo in Ebonyi State to celebrate the Christmas and New Year with family and friends, said the cost of transportation to her place is currently double of the six thousand naira plus she paid last year.
For others traveling to Abia State, including Mr Valentine Maluife and Miss Goodness Onuoha, Christmas and new year are moments they celebrate with their families and fraternize with friends who they have not seen for a long time, calling on government and other relevant authorities to look for a way to reduce cost of things in the market, as well as transportation fare.
