The culture and tradition of a people are the ingredients that make up their life and existence.

Though they can be similar across people of same ethnic nationality, the fundamental difference lies in the ability of a particular people to grow their culture, injecting into it, positive elements of modernity and trend.

Uke Day Celebration has come to stay among the good people of Uke land in Idemili North Council Area of Anambra State.

After ascending the ancestral Throne of Uke Ancient Kingdom, Igwe Charles Agbala, as the custodian of Uke culture and tradition, thought out activities events and programs to spice up the primordial cultural attributes and excellent tradition of Ndi Uke as Ndigbo of Southeast region of Nigeria.

First in line is the Uke Day Celebration holding every twenty-eighth day of December.

According to Igwe Agbala, Ndi Uke deserve a day within the annual festive periods of Christmas and New Year to come together and recreate in revelry with their diaspora kinsmen who are home for the seasons.

Another important objective of holding Uke Day is for a continued propagation of Uke culture and tradition, handing down the package from generation to generation for perpetuity and posterity.

For close to a decade now, Uke Day Celebration has taken the Centre stage in the festival activities of Ndi Uke Ancient Kingdom.

And for three years running, a cultural activist and lover of the good things of his people, Ezigbote Onye Uke, Professor Emmanuel Emegoakor, came in with a robust re-jigging spirit and Uke Day Celebration took a new shape, featuring Ufie music dancing competition with mouth watering prizes, masquerade parade, cultural dances and a harvest of personalities.

New ideas are still breeding; new content being created and injected into Uke Day Celebration.

Tomorrow Saturday December twenty-eight, Ndi Uke, Umudiana Uke, Umuada Uke, Ndi Ogo, Ikwu na ibe, friends and well wishers shall converge again at Uke Civic and Cultural Centre Arena, Ama Nduka to enjoy yet another good time of cultural package and entertainment under the Chairmanship Sir John Okafor and Comrade Don Onyenji, Commissioner, Anambra State Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Entertainment as the Special Guest of Honor. Igwe Agbala shall be the Royal Father of the Day.

The President-General Uke Development Union, Peter Onyejegbu and the Honourable Anayochukwu Emmanuel led-Uke Day Celebration Planning Committee are welcoming the general public to the 2024 Uke Day Celebration.

It shall be great and grand and all glory shall be to God.
