The rich cultural heritage of Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area was showcased on Christmas eve during the initiation of Chief Uche Nworah into the prestigious Ozomkpu Enugwu-Ukwu.
Chief Nworah is a former Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, and member of cabinet of the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpe, who was auspiciously present at the event.
After the traditional rituals that preceded the ceremony, Chief Nworah was decorated as Ozomkpu Ezeudo alongside his wife, Iyom Uchechi, who was also initiated into Iyom Enugwu-Ukwu society.
Speaking during the event, Chief Nworah re-called that he is the first person to take the title after over five decades of the demise of the last Ozomkpu in Umuakwu village, expressing happiness that his people will now see the title taking as something worth doing.
The wife of Chief Nworah, Uchechi, said that she was excited to learn that she is the first person to take the Iyom title in Umuakwu, and promised to support her husband in his new status.
