In a bid to enhance road safety and reduce accidents on Nigerian highways, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Shehu Mohammed, has called on traditional rulers to join the campaign against road traffic crashes.

He made the call during his end of the year traffic monitoring tour, which took him through the Abuja-Lokoja expressway, Obajana, and Owo in Ondo State.

He highlighted the strategic importance of Owo town as a critical corridor connecting the Southwest, South-South, and North-Central regions of Nigeria.

The Corps marshal acknowledged the respect and authority traditional rulers command emphasizing their crucial role in promoting road safety awareness.

He urged them to leverage their influence to educate communities about safe driving practices, the risks of over speeding, and the importance of vehicle maintenance.
