The traditional ruler of Azia in Ihiala  Local Government Area, Igwe Pius Chikwado  Ojuro  has answered the eternal call after a memorable ninety-one years on earth.

Igwe Ojuro was born in 1934  to the family of late High Chief and Mrs Muonagorom  Ojuro of Umudansu village, Azia.

He had his Primary education at  Saint Andrew’s  Primary School Azia and later obtained his London GCE from home. He was such a very intelligent and  articulated young man, that he got his WAEC from home without attending school.

Late Igwe Ojuro as an industrialist, went into business and became successful in his endeavours and established  Oyoyo Motor and Oyoyo Electronics

Later in his life, he was approached by people of  the community to be their traditional ruler which he accepted and he was crowned on 23rd December,1976, making him the first traditional ruler of the community.

Igwe was a devout Catholic that never toyed with daily attendance to morning mass but never discriminated against other denominations as he attended other churches’ activities like harvest and bazaar.

He was accessible and accommodating to all irrespective of tribe or tongue and an exceptional humanitarian who trained numerous people.

Igwe got married to Late Mrs   Maria Ojuro, (nee Onuchukwu) the first educated lady in the community and they were blessed with nine children. When Maria died, Igwe got married to another wife, Ezenwanyi Grace Ojuro and they were blessed with two children.

His children are all graduates among who are Professors, Doctors, Engineers and  Accountants .

Even with his busy schedule, the late Igwe Ojuro made  out time for his wives and children as well as his subjects,  bringing smiles to the faces of Azia people.

His excellent performance in Afor-Ozara customary court as Chief Judge has remained unbeatable till date as well as the good role he played as Zonal Coordinator during the civil war  that will never be forgotten.

Not forgetting his legacy as Chairman Ihiala Traditional Rulers Council and his eight years contributions as member  Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council.

Through his leadership, he brought development to the community including  bridge, tarred roads, electricity, pipe born water, hospitals and  schools among others which are still in use till date.

As  the Custodian and Traditional head in Azia Community, the late Igwe Ojuro wrote a book titled, “Historical Origin, Custom and Customary Law, Traditional Reforms in Azia”, which is still helping in maintaining the customs of Azia till today.

His family, subjects, associates, friends and well-wishers still celebrate his remarkable life, legacy of unconditional love, wisdom, kindness and generosity which have left indelible marks in their lives.

Igwe Ojuro is blessed with twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
