Nnobi Community through its town union government, the Nnobi Welfare Organization, has dissociated self from the seventh Ofala festival of their traditional ruler, Igwe Nick Obi, scheduled to hold today, for being in violation of Nnobi town constitution, revised 2011.
Nnobi Welfare Organization made this known through its President General, Barrister Dominic Okpala during a press briefing at the Secretariat of the organization in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area.
According to the town union, on tenth October, 2024, it received a letter from the traditional ruler, Igwe Obi informing it that he was going to celebrate his seventh Ofala festival under the 2019 Nnobi Town Constitution which is unknown to it and Nnobi people in general, instead of the 2011 constitution of the town which according to it, is the only operating constitution generally acceptable to the people of Nnobi, and recognized by the Anambra State Government.
When contacted, Igwe Obi insisted that his Ofala festival is backed by both the 2011 and 2019 constitution of the town and the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Law 2007.
