Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, yesterday led a service of thanksgiving at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith in Awka, in remembrance and honour of members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

 

At the church, Governor Soludo emphasised the importance of the service as an opportunity to express gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces, as well as activities lined up to commemorate the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

He said the mass celebration served as a reminder of the crucial role played by the Armed Forces in maintaining peace and security, as well as an expression of gratitude for their sacrifices in service of the nation.

 

While extending condolences to the families of those who have fallen in the line of duty, Governor Soludo prayed for God’s strength for those putting their lives on the line of service to protect and defend their fatherland, calling for collective action against insecurity.

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim, promised that the church will continue to do whatever they can to help the Soludo-led administration to succeed.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, State Executive Council members, the Judiciary, Service Commanders in the state, serving and retired security officials, among others, attended the service.
