Heads of the seven kindreds that made up Ogwuari village, Nsugbe in Anambra East Local Government Area have drawn the attention of the Anambra State Government to the activities of a group of individuals who are allegedly fomenting trouble in the village by challenging the leadership of the duly elected National Chairman of the village, Pastor Achunwa Ifejika.
Addressing the press, the Chairman of all the chairmen of the seven kindreds and oldest person in the village, Chief Patrick Agbata, accompanied by heads of all the kindreds, said the village elected Pastor Ifejika to serve a four-year tenure as its National Chairman on 16th December 2023 in one of the most peaceful elections in the village.
According to Chief Agbata, these individuals whom he tagged “band of mischief makers and hoodlums” led by an individual who never participated in the election, have decided to make the village ungovernable, obtained a “court judgment without a hearing” and commenced selling communal lands despite an appeal and stay of execution filed by the village.
For Chief Patrick Ezeazu and Mr Emmanuel Odigbo, the same group of persons had, at different occasions, intimidated and coerced some elders in the village into signing documents and fixing emergency meetings to execute their evil agenda, calling on the state government to intervene to ensure that parties adhere to court decisions, and that the situation is prevented from degenerating into total chaos.
On his part, Pastor Ifejika said that the said individuals are only interested in coveting communal lands into their personal property, which is why they are making every effort to remove him from office.
