A team of Jewish-Americans known as Teshuva Across the Waters, who recently traced their ancestral root to Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area have revealed their plans to execute a tangible project in the Anambra, as a way of solidifying their relationship with their people in the state.
Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the group made this known through their leader, Mr Yehudah Webster when they paid a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo at the Government House, Awka.
According to Mr Webster, who described Ndi Igbo as loving and exceptional people, blessed with rich culture and tradition, the group are happy to have traced their ancestral roots to Igbo land, saying that they will invest in the health, education and other sectors in Anambra, as a way of solidifying their relationship with their root.
Governor Soludo represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim commended the group for considering it necessary to find their root and identify with the home of their ancestors and encouraged them to invest in the state, even as he assured them of the state government’s support at all times.
In their contributions, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji, and the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Entertainment, Mr Bob-Manuel Udokwu, described Ndi Anambra as very loving and expressed optimism that their visit will erase wrong perceptions that westerners have about Africans.
