The United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide (UNIEC) has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his proactive approach to tackling insecurity in the state, especially the establishment of Agunechemba, a new vigilante architecture, and the launch of “Operation Udo Ga-Achi.”
According to the Council the initiative will ensure sustainable security of lives and property in the state and beyond, urging governors in neighboring states to emulate Governor Soludo’s decisive action.
Agunechemba is a crucial step towards fostering community-based security and restoring peace in Anambra through local involvement in combating crime and empowering communities to actively participate in their own protection to entrench long-term security network. By establishing a robust community-driven security framework, the initiative seeks to cultivate a sense of ownership among the populace regarding their safety.
It is a comprehensive strategy aimed at tackling insecurity from multiple angles to achieve lasting peace and security as well as demonstrates a clear commitment to the safety and well-being of the Anambra people. These initiatives are not merely reactive measures but a proactive strategy that engages the community at the grassroots level.
Operation Udo Ga-Achi is a sustainable security strategies that align with the values of the Igbo people. as participation of local communities in security operations not only enhances safety but also strengthens societal bonds.
It equally enhances collaboration among the state government, security agencies, and local communities in ensuring the success of these initiatives.
However, there is need for rigorous training and effective oversight of Agunechemba members to maintain professionalism and prevent abuse of power.
There is also need for stakeholders to promote community awareness and encourage citizens to actively participate in the initiatives.
Collaboration among governments of the Southeast states will ensure that criminals routed from Anambra State do not sneak into the neighboring states to continue their nefarious activities .
There is no doubt that replicating security models like Agunechemba and “Operation Udo Ga-Achi” across the South-East region would significantly enhance the overall security landscape in the zone because a unified front against insecurity is vital for the region’s economic development and social progress as well as lead a regional charge towards a more secure environment as well as promote peace and stability across Igbo land.
A unified approach to security, will ultimately lead to a safer and more resilient southeastern Nigeria, reinforcing the Igbo spirit of community and cooperation.
