No state or country in the world is crime-free.  Human beings  have mixtures of good and bad traits to  commit atrocious and unconscionable deeds so as to amass wealth and achieve  selfish ends. As a result, the occurrence of blood-chilling crimes has become commonplace in many different parts of the world. So governments exist in different countries of the world to maintain law and order and combat   criminal acts.

 Anambra state, has had its own fair share   of crimes and insecurity since creation.

Anambra state is the home of many markets, which make it the economic hub of the southeast geopolitical zone.   The volume of trade that is carried out in the state on a daily basis, is critical to the country’s economic growth and sustainability.  That is why happenings in Anambra state should be of concern to  all  Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic origin, religious leaning, and political party affiliations.

Anambra state has remained comparably a peaceful state over the years .  The state has been witnessing seamless, orderly, and peaceful transition of political power from one administration to another.

Today,  Governor Chukwuma Soludo, is determined towards  transforming Anambra state to industrialized and economically-prosperous state.  He has a roadmap for making Anambra state a livable, environmentally friendly, and economically prosperous state and has been unveiling initiatives aimed at repositioning  and launching  the state on course of sustainable development.

Unfortunately,    heinous crimes  by unscrupulous and evil-minded miscreants are threatening the socioeconomic life of the people.

However, Governor Soludo has responded swiftly and decisively  by initiating and executing pragmatic and well-conceived measures to tackle the monster of insecurity .The Homeland Security Law, which was enacted by the Anambra state legislature as a legal framework to efficiently tackle insecurity, has become effective. The aim of the law is to eliminate, all forms  of criminal activities  in the state.

 The launch of the Agunechemba  security outfit is a pragmatic initiative  that will yield the desired results. That security outfit, which will work in concert with other security agencies in Anambra state, will complement the efforts of the police in the areas of crime fighting and prevention.

 A safe and peaceful Anambra state will attract foreign investors in the same way  a magnet attracts iron filings. Being conscious of that fact, Governor Soludo  is not leaving any stone unturned in his effort to run kidnappers, armed robbers, and murderous non-state actors out of the state.

Other Governors, especially, Southeast Governors should emulate Professor Soludo’s courage and political will to adopt holistic approach in the fight against crime and criminality. Strong synergy among state governments of the zone will eliminate cross boundary crimes and make the entire region too hot for criminals and miscreants.

Again, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders should give security agencies and operatives necessary cooperation and assistance by providing prompt and useful information that will enable them smoke out hoodlums from their hiding places to achieved the set goals .
