Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reminded traditional rulers, presidents general, and other community leaders in the state that their primary responsibility is to ensure peace and harmony in their various towns, threatening to remove any of them who fails the people in that regard.
The Governor, who made this known at Government House, Awka, through his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, during a meeting with stakeholders of Eziaguluotu-Aguleri and Umuoba Anam both in Anambra East Local Government Area, on boundary issues, advised people of Eziaguluotu-Aguleri and Umuoba Anam to give peace a chance, and seize every activity on the disputing land, as government will not allow any act that threatens peace, adequate security of life and property.
In their various speeches, the Traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam, Igwe George Obalum-Ekwealor, and his Eziaguluotu Aguleri counterpart, Igwe Lawrence Nwofia, claimed ownership of the said land, and appealed to the state government to help them determine the rightful owner of the land with evidences they will provide.
