Anambra State Government is to begin a one week round two vaccination Big Catch-up across nine local government areas of the state.
Addressing participants during a stakeholders engagement meeting organized by the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Director of Disease Control and Immunization in the agency, Dr. Nnamdi Uliagbafusi said the exercise is to complement what they had done in round, and is meant to cover the gaps in immunization indices of the affected nine local government areas where gaps were noticed, adding that they are targeting children from zero to fifty-nine months.
The Anambra State Health Educator, Mrs. Uju Onwuegbuzine, who explained that the essence of the stakeholders engagement meeting was for them to help in awareness creation in their localities, as well as mobilize healthcare givers for them to have a seamless exercise for a healthier Anambra, revealed that the exercise will hold in Ayamelum, Anaocha, Idemili North and South, Orumba North and South, Nnewi South, as well as Ihiala Local Government Areas.
In a goodwill message, Mrs. Uju Eze; from the United Nations Children’s Fund applauded the State government for being responsive to the health needs of Ndi Anambra, especially women and children, assuring that UNICEF will continue to partner with the state for improved healthcare delivery.
