The short days in the month of February did not in any way deter residents of some areas in Onitsha metropolis from participating in this month’s sanitation exercise.
Most major roads in the city looked deserted as security officials mounted road blocks in a bid to checkmate road movement.
Handful of passengers were seen stranded at various bus stands as commercial vehicles were not at sight to convey them to their destinations
Correspondent Blessing Ijedibia who monitored the exercise at Inland town, Onitsha Enugu expressway and Awada observed that some residents were seen carting away refuse from the drainage channels as well as sweeping the environment
Some of them including Mr. Chibueze Chukwuaghanam and Onyeka Igwe attested to the importance of a healthy environment and described the monthly sanitation as fundamental to cleaner Onitsha metropolis.
