Roads are probably one of the most important infrastructure assets as they facilitate, influence and can act as an indicator of sustainable economic development.
No wonder Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to the simultaneous construction and reconstruction of roads and bridges in all the three senatorial zones in the state.
In Anambra Central, the Governor is tackling Amansea- Ebenebe – Ugbenu – Awba Ofemili road ; Ugwuagba Obosi – Awada Obosi Road; some selected roads in Awka including Club Road also know as Abakiliki Street, Regina Caeli, Milleniun Industry – INEC road and construction of Oye Agu Abagana – Umegbu Nibo Road with spur to Nimo Road.
Others are rehabilitation of Afor Nnobi – Awka Ekiti –Ichida – Tonimas filling station after Nkwo Igboukwu road which has been completed, revalidation of community Road at Mbaukwu which has also completed.; construction of Nnokwa – Adazi Enu- Akwaeze Road; construction of Igwe Ezeadi Okoye Road at Ifitedunu, also completed and construction of Umuogbu Awka Flood Control Infrastructure and Roads also completed..
The erosion control project behind the New Government House and Ekwueme Square Awka and construction of Amawbia Internal Roads have been completed while the Owelaja Obosi Flood Control project and construction of Ukwu Orji Awka – Umuenechi – Ifite Nibo- Isiagu Road are ongoing, among many other road projects in the zone.
Similarly Governor Soludo has constructed many roads in Anambra South including Amansea – Ndiukwenu – Mamu forest – Awa – Ufuma Road, the Flood section of Isuofia – Igboukwu Road and Igboukwu – Ekwulobia road with a spur to Isuofia – Nanka which have all been completed.
Others are construction of Akpu –Ajalli- Nawfija – Ufuma – Ogbunka Road, decongestion of Ekwulobia Traffic through construction of Fly over Bridge , Roads, Bus Terminal, Fuel Station, Security Building, Fire Station and External Works which are all ongoing as well as construction of Isuofia – Nanka road off Obi Adimorah which has been completed.
Others are construction of Okpunoeze – Nnewi Hotel Road and Ezira – Umuomaku – Enugu Umuonyia – Achina Road which have been completed as well as construction of Ozubulu – Ihembosi – Ukpor Road which is on ongoing.
The construction of Atani – Ozubulu Road with a bridge is ongoing and gully Erosion control works in Ebenator and revalidation of Umuaguchi Eziama Erosion Road in Uli have been completed. Construction of Ihiala – Umudara- Ndiezike Road, dualization of Amawbia –Uga – Orlu Boundary Road , reconstruction of Pal Junction Oko – Ogboji Road and reconstruction of Oraifite Road to Onitsha – Owerri Expressway are all on going, among many other road projects in the Senatorial District.
The story is the same in Anambra North Senatorial zone where many road projects have been completed or ongoing, including Okpoko Roads , Obodoukwu – Owerri Road; Ogbuagu – IK Onurah – Anumudu – Mgbuka Amazu – Owerri Road ; Ede – School Road – Awalite – Ojota – Owerri Road; .
Others are Umueze Anam – Mmiata – Nzam Road with a Bridge which has been completed and work on Atani – Osomala – Ogwuikpele Road with restoration of bridge abutment and other Hydraulic structure is ongoing.
Soludo’s government has equally completed the Ifite Ogwari Road with a spur to Oil Rig Road – Erugwu Otu – Aguleri, Awkuzu – Igbariam – Anaku Link Road Nteje – Otuocha Road and Construction of Trans Nkisi Boulevard “One” Road, GRA Onitsha .
