Today is Ash Wednesday, it is a holy day of prayer and fasting in Christian denominations, and marks the beginning of the Lenten season.
It is a season in which christians journey with Christ in his suffering for forty days and nights through fasting, repentance and seeking God’s face for the salvation of their souls.
Commenting on the significant of the day during special Service, the Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Onyekachi Nwakanma, reminded Christians that they are made of ash and unto that they shall return, noting that Lenten season is one of the most important seasons in church liturgy, as it precedes the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and it calls for penitence, humility and sober reflection.
