The Southeast Development Commission has been urged to forge strong synergy with Governors of the zone to accelerate overall development of the region.

Speaking in Awka, the immediate past Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, said the commission had long been expected by Ndigbo, and enjoined the members to prioritize projects that will open up the entire area, create employment opportunities and boost socioeconomic activities, including railway projects that will linkup state capitals and major cities, as well as inter state roads that will complement remarkable achievements recorded by Governors like Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

He stressed the need for transparency and management of available resources to enable the commission meet expectations of the people and avoid mistakes of white elephant and abandoned projects.

Chief Okeke-Ogene urged the National Assembly to ensure adequate budgetary allocation to the commission to carry out its mandate, while also carrying out effective oversight functions.
