Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State celebrated his three years in office with a pontifical thanksgiving mass held at the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka.
The event which is part of the activities for the celebration, was attended by a diverse gathering including dignitaries, government officials, clergy, and members of the local community, reflecting the governor’s commitment to religious and cultural values.
The mass, officiated by Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Ekwulọbịa, was characterized by prayers and hymns, expressing gratitude for the progress made in the state.
Governor Soludo stated that his three years is a journey ordained by God, looked back to the promises he made three years ago, saying that much of the manifesto has been achieved.
The Governor stressed that based on his administration’s principle of one state, one people, one agenda, he is driven by needs, empathy and compassion.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on key areas such as education reforms, sustainable youth empowerment, road infrastructure development, and enhancing healthcare services, highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting local businesses and fostering job creation in the state.
In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Hassan Kukah lamented that gratitude to God is something people take for granted and played a reminder that public office anywhere is a contract, praising the Governor for the strides in education, health and infrastructure and added that Governor Soludo has no excuse not to succeed because of the opportunities given to him by God.
The Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor earlier received all who attended the pontifical high mass.
A community stakeholder, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor expressed optimism about the future of Anambra State under Soludo’s leadership.
National Chairman of APGA, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, Former Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Wife of the Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, top government officials, Service Chiefs, Traditional Rulers, Presidents-General, among others, attended the function.
