As Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, marks three years of purposeful leadership and transformative governance the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, acknowledges the collaborative strides that have significantly advanced the development of the state.
The synergy between the Executive and the Legislature has been a defining factor in the remarkable progress recorded across various sectors. This Assembly has remained steadfast in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities of representation, lawmaking, and oversight, ensuring that government policies and programs are aligned with the needs and aspirations of Ndi Anambra.
Since the inception of the Soludo is administration, the Anambra State House of Assembly has witnessed a paradigm shift in its operations, structure, and effectiveness. For the first time since the state’s creation in 1991, the Legislative Complex has undergone a much-needed transformation, reflecting the dignity and importance of the Legislature in democratic governance. The extensive renovation of the complex, rehabilitation of office blocks, landscaping, and the provision of modern work tools have greatly enhanced the efficiency and productivity of both lawmakers and legislative staff.
Beyond infrastructure, this Assembly has actively contributed to the legal and policy framework that supports the Soludo-led administration’s development agenda. Over the past three years, more than twenty-four bills have been passed and assented to, covering critical areas. These laws have provided the necessary legal backing for policies that continue to drive Anambra’s progress.
Your Excellency’s responsiveness to the resolutions and legislative interventions of this Assembly has reinforced our shared commitment to good governance. The House has consistently engaged in robust legislative scrutiny of budgets and policies, ensuring that public resources are efficiently allocated and utilized for the collective good of Ndi Anambra.
Budgetary allocations under your administration have been more strategic, aligning with the vision of *Solution Agenda* for a livable and prosperous homeland. The House has diligently reviewed and passed annual budgets, ensuring that government spending remains transparent, accountable, and impactful. The focus on infrastructure, education, health, security, and economic expansion has yielded tangible results, reinforcing public confidence in governance.
Your administration’s ability to adapt and recalibrate policies in response to emerging challenges and opportunities has been a hallmark of its success. The proactive engagement between the Executive and Legislature has minimized the governance bottlenecks that once impeded state development. Unlike in previous administrations where tensions between both arms of government hampered progress, this era has been characterized by mutual respect, dialogue, and a collective resolve to serve the people.
As we enter the fourth year of your administration, the Anambra State House of Assembly remains committed to intensifying its legislative duties to ensure that governance continues to be people-centered and development-driven.
