International Community is marking World Down Syndrome Day today. The Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness about the health condition, as well as support friends and family of the affected persons.
Queen Anigbogu gathered that Down syndrome is a medical condition in which a person has an extra chromosome instead of forty-six chromosomes most human beings have at birth, which can affect how their brain and body develop.
In his remark, a Medical Personnel, Mr Paul Chibundo explained that when a child is born with extra twenty-one chromosomes, this causes Down syndrome, noting that if supportive care is given, he or she can grow into a productive adult.
