The Traditional Ruler of Mbaukwu community in Awka South Local Government Area, Igwe Peter Anugwu, has donated his palace to the Pallottines, a congregation of the Catholic Church, for development and Church use.

Government House Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that while handing over the palace to the Pallottines who came from their headquarters in Rome to receive the gift, Igwe Anugwu said the gesture was part of his efforts to appreciate God for His love and kindness towards him, and a way of sharing in the blessing that comes with working in God’s vineyard.

Speaking on behalf of the team, the leader and Superior General, Pallottines Worldwide, Reverend Father Zenon Hanas, appreciated Igwe Anugwu for the kind gesture, which he said speaks volume of Igbo’s cheerfulness, kind-heartedness and special love for God, and prayed God to bless the Mbaukwu Monarch and his lineage, assuring that the Church will utilize the place and ensure its free access to all; irrespective of denominations.

In his remark, the Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, who hails from the community, described the act as unprecedented and unusual, and encouraging the Pallottines to put the palace to good use as desired by the Traditional Ruler, even as he called for unity amongst Christians; irrespective of denominations.
