Bishop Jonathan Charles Nwoye Chinwe was born on seventh October 1944 at Iruanika Oranto Village Ukpo Dunukofia Council Area, to the family of late Elder Paul Chinwe.
Young JONATHAN started his Western Education at CMS primary school Ukpo in 1952, now Central School Ukpo and proceeded to Community Secondary school Nnobi and completed his Secondary Education between 1961 and 1966.
Young Jonathan was born into African traditional religion and later converted to Christianity under CMS , now Anglican church and was confirmed by Arch Bishop Parterson of blessed memory in 1965.
Having discovered his passion for teaching and mentoring, He enrolled into the St Paul’s Teachers College Awka in 1967 and obtained Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate in 1971. With Teacher’s Grade Two certificate, he was employed by the Ministry of Education East Central State in 1971 as a teacher and posted to Enugu Agidi Primary School as Standard Six class teacher. He was later transferred to Urum primary school and then to Umuokpu Community School Awka and Central school Amawbia all in present Awka North and South council areas.
His quest for knowledge propelled young him to enroll into Ambassadors Bible College Passadona California USA by correspondence between 1971 -and 1974 and graduated with Diploma in General Bible studies course.
The young and vibrant JONATHAN was married to late Juliana Asah of Umuanum village Nibo Awka. The union was blessed with six children, three males and three females.
As a hard working man who abhorred laziness, He ventured into farming in partnership with his late wife even as an ordained minister of God.
Shortly after the Nigeria/ Biafra Civil war of which he was a gallant soldier and war veteran; Young Jonathan had divine encounter and revelation that instructed him to “come over and gather the flocks” with holy scriptures and staff in his hand .
A man of God made it very clear to him that he was called into prophetic ministry.
He later established connection with Bishop Mike Ufoaroh of blessed memory who happened to be one of his contemporaries from Teacher’s Training College Nibo-Nise.
He submitted under his tutelage as an auxiliary divine worker and was baptized by immersion by Most Reverend Mike Amakeze of blessed memory and given the name JONATHAN.
Later, he founded Holy Sabbath church of Christ kingdom now Yahshua’s Kingdom Sabbath Mission Incorporated, Nigeria in 1978. He continued in his teaching profession until 1980 when he willingly and voluntarily resigned.
Throughout his journey as a minister, he rose through the ranks and was ordained Bishop on the seventh October 1997 by Arch Bishop M M Ositadinma; later elevated to the rank of Arch Bishop under the Sabbath Arch Diocese of West Africa.
He served in various capacities including National Secretary, Yahweh Bible Sabbath Association of Nigeria,
National Chairman and Prelate, Yahshua’s Kingdom Sabbath Mission Incorporated. Nigeria, Ordained Bishop, the Supreme National Judaism Council of Nigeria incorporated, Foundation Chairman, UKPO spiritual churches Association UKPO Dunukofia, Chairman- Judaism Council of Nigeria Dunukofia Local Government Area chapter and elected Archbishop, the Supreme National Judaism Council of Nigeria Incorporated, among many other important positions. Due to his outstanding performance and dedication, the Mount Zion University of Theology Israel awarded him Doctorate Certificate of Divinity in 1997.
As a prolific writer, he wrote many news commentaries on religious and social issues.
Late Bishop Chinwe lived his life for others, sharing his fortune among many in line with his philosophy of kindness to humanity. and pursuit for justice, equity and fairness.
Late Bishop Chinwe suffered an illness that culminated to his peaceful passing on a blessed Sabbath morning, on the ninth December 2023.
There is no doubt, that he has found perfect peace and rest in the LORD.
